Next week’s EastEnders episodes are all set across the same evening, dubbed ‘The Night That Changes Everything’, as some huge new stories begin and others come to a head.

“Denise has to be strong for Chelsea in her hour of need, knowing her diagnosis would push her daughter over the edge. But Denise needs immediate treatment – and she’s avoiding reality.”

The night begins with all of Walford gathered in the wake of the dramatic events at Vicki Fowler and Ross Marshall’s wedding. Yolande becomes suspicious of Denise’s absence, but the whole family are unaware that Denise is in hospital, hearing some concerning news about her health.

As the doctor explains that Denise has blood cancer, the severity of the diagnosis becomes clear – she needs treatment immediately.

A shocked Denise heads back to the Square, and Yolande finds her hiding in Fox & Hair. Almost straight away, Denise breaks down and reveals all to Yolande. The pair head back to Denise’s for a heart-to-heart, but then Denise’s consultant calls, insisting she return to the hospital urgently…

Meanwhile, Chelsea is having a great time at the wedding, flirting with Mark Fowler and getting close to Zack Hudson. After Chelsea comforts Zack outside, they almost share a kiss – but the moment is interrupted, leading to a spiral of events that will change Chelsea’s life in an instant.

“Chelsea’s first instinct is to call her mum,” reveals our spy. “Denise should be going back to hospital, but instead she chooses to support her family. That decision is dangerous – her cancer diagnosis is far more serious than Denise wants to acknowledge.”

Before Denise can even process her emotions about her own health, she immediately steps into protective mum mode and rushes to be with Chelsea.

Hiding what she’s going through herself, Denise decides to keep it a secret from Chelsea so her daughter can focus on her own life-changing struggle.

Despite Yolande’s efforts to get Denise to tell Chelsea, she ultimately helps cover for her absence at the wedding.

But after Yolande’s encouragement, Denise realises it’s time to tell Jack the truth and steels herself to break the news.

How will Denise cope in the wake of her cancer diagnosis? And will she tell the whole family the truth while Chelsea faces her own heartbreak, or choose to suffer in secret?
