Coronation Street updates fans on absent Roy Cropper

Coronation Street has updated fans on how Roy Cropper is doing following his surprise departure from Weatherfield.
Roy bowed out in November, as he was struggling with his guilt after covering up Abi Webster’s plan for revenge against killer Corey Brent.
Harvey Gaskell used Abi’s gun to shoot Natasha Blakeman in October, causing her tragic death.
Reflecting on the chain of events and the role he played, Roy was unable to live with himself and went away to work in South America, having found a job as a chef there.
Corrie‘s Christmas Eve episode, which is streaming early on the ITV Hub today, has now signalled that Roy will be re-establishing contact with his loved ones after weeks of silence.

As Carla Connor (Alison King) spent some time catching up on emails at the café, she playfully teased Roy’s niece Nina Lucas for clumsily dropping things.
She said: “Nina, it’s just some crockery. Mind you, if Roy came in now, he’d have something to say about it, wouldn’t he? That was a joke, by the way.”
Nina (Mollie Gallagher) guessed that she may have heard from Roy, so Carla soon came clean: “Oh, alright. He replied to my six millionth email. He gave me his landline number, so I called it.
“He’s alright – well, as far as I can fathom. He’s going to call you tomorrow for Christmas.”
Corrie viewers have seen Nina struggle with anxiety in recent days, fearing that something terrible could happen to the people she loves.
