‘FBI: International’ Series Finale Ending Explained: Who Was Missing? How Did It End?
The FBI: International series finale took Fly Team leader Wes Mitchell far from Budapest — but not everyone on his team helped him from overseas.During the Tuesday, May 20, finale, Wes (Jesse Lee Soffer) traveled to Tokyo to track down the second serial killer suspected of kidnapping at least six Americans. (The Fly Team in Budapest previously apprehended a Japanese assailant guilty of killing an
American working as a prostitute but before they could find his partner, the criminal killed himself.)
Keeping in line with Japanese rules, Wes flew solo to Tokyo to solve the case. He teamed up with local detective Reiko Isokawa (Yoriko Haraguchi) to try and navigate the nuances of the country while saving the latest victim, an American named Hannah (Ferin Bergen), who was abducted during a cab ride following her shift as a hostess in Japan’s capital.
After his team back home did a deep dive into the first assailant’s search history, they found the mastermind behind the international killing spree: Lloyd Acuff (Tom Ashton).
When Wes and Reiko confronted Lloyd about his suspected crimes, he played coy about his whereabouts when Hannah was abducted. Wes decided to break a few rules — which got Reiko suspended — and had to go it alone to get his man.
Ultimately, Wes made a deal with Lloyd, who was later accused of killing more than 50 women, promising to let him die by cyanide in exchange for Hannah’s location. Once Hannah was safe, Wes gave Lloyd his “button” as promised but he took the cyanide out, leaving Lloyd to face the consequences of his actions.
While Wes solved the case and saved Hannah, the finale left a lot of questions unanswered. Unfortunately, since FBI: International was canceled in March, fans may never get the closure they want. (FBI: Most Wanted was also canceled.)
