HOT NEWS!!! EastEnders serial killer starring in ‘whodunnit’ before soap return

EastEnders star Toby-Alexander Smith will soon feature in a new film alongside true icon Dame Joan Collins.

The actor, best known for his role as Gray Atkins in the BBC One soap, will star in A Murder Between Friends as the character Sydney. It sees six old friends become embroiled in a deadly mystery, while staying at the grand country estate of a true-crime TV star.

It’s described as a ‘stylish and fun’ whodunit, which sees one of the six killed in the strangest of circumstances.

‘With suspicion mounting and tensions rising, the group must determine who has the means, the motive and opportunity to murder’, the synopsis reads.

‘Turning to their celebrity hostess for help, they must race against time to uncover the truth, before the killer strikes again.’

Toby, who is married to Emmerdale’s Amy Walsh, will also star opposite Nadia Bjorlin, Jacob Young, Trent Garrett, India Thain, Hana Vagnerová, Jim Borstelmann, Espen Hatleskog and Emmerdale’s Simon Cotton.

Dame Joan, who plays ‘showbiz sleuth’ Francesca Carlyle, also co-produced the film with Percy Gibson and the writer Mark Rozzano.

A Murder Between Friends will have its UK premier in London on June 2. It will be released on digital platforms on June 15.

Earlier this month, it was revealed that Toby will soon be returning to EastEnders as Gray Atkins.

The character arrived in Walford in 2019 with his partner Chantelle Atkins (Jessica Plummer) and their two children. Gray was a hugely successful solicitor and enjoyed the fact he had a lot of money to throw around.

As respected as he was by other people, Gray hid a dark secret behind closed doors. It was revealed in a powerful moment that he was physically and mentally abusing his wife Chantelle.

In 2020, Chantelle had plotted to leave Gray, but sadly died when she was pushed onto an open dishwasher by him. She was fatally impaled on a knife.

After Gray covered up Chantelle’s death, the BBC One soap aired a storyline that saw him spiral into becoming a serial killer. Three months after killing his wife, Gray murdered Tina Carter (Luisa Bradshaw-White), who had worked out that he had been abusing Chantelle.

He then murdered Kush Kazemi (Davood Ghadami) by pushing him in front of an approaching Underground train. Gray ended Kush’s life because he was incredibly jealous that he was moving away with previous love interest Whitney Dean (Shona McGarty).

The character departed the show in 2022 after finally getting arrested for his crimes.

Even though Gray is in the middle of a very long prison sentence, it is said that his upcoming return is set to cause some serious drama for Chelsea Fox (Zaraah Abrahams), who shares a son with Gray.
