EastEnders spoilers confirm what happens next to Mark and his mum’s identity confirmed

Mark Fowler Jr has been stirring up trouble since his comeback to EastEnders earlier this year.

The character, brought to life by Stephen Aaron-Sipple, turned up on his uncle Phil Mitchell’s (Steve McFadden) doorstep back in January looking worse for wear, and he’s been embroiled in chaos ever since.

Recently, Mark was reunited with his long-absent father Grant Mitchell (Ross Kemp), who made his way back to Walford to say goodbye to his dear mate Nigel Bates (Paul Bradley), who tragically passed away after struggling with dementia.

In Tuesday’s (May 19) instalment, Grant disclosed that he’s offloaded his Portuguese bar and will shortly have the cash to bail out his son, though Mark rejected the gesture, insisting on sorting matters himself.

With everything on the line, Lauren Branning (Jacquline Jossa) pressed Mark about their dodgy car scheme, and he promised her he’d shoulder the blame should things go pear-shaped. When the first vehicle turned up, a dubious Max Branning (Jake Wood) enlisted Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) to dig into Mark’s background, reports the Daily Star.

Jack unearthed Mark’s shady history but cautioned Max against confronting Lauren just yet. Mark subsequently received a menacing warning from those he’s indebted to.

In desperation, he turned to Priya Nandra-Hart (Sophie Khan Levy) for assistance and managed to access the car lot safe, but a text from Lauren sparked remorse and he bolted, inadvertently leaving behind his keys to No.55. While mulling over whether to seek Grant’s aid, Mark was abruptly seized by masked figures and whisked away in a van. What’s in store for Mark Fowler?

Recent EastEnders spoilers indicate that Grant’s anxiety about Mark intensifies, prompting him to leave yet another voicemail on the day of Nigel’s funeral.

Shortly afterwards, Grant receives a threatening phone call from Russell Delaney (Anthony Skordi) insisting on immediate full payment, and matters worsen when he overhears Sam – someone with whom he has history.

Adamant about not disrupting Nigel’s funeral, Phil urges they address Russell’s demands later, and the siblings grudgingly consent. Following his recent reunion with father Grant, viewers have been curious about his maternal lineage. Mark is the offspring of Grant and Michelle Fowler (Susan Tully), who concealed the truth about his paternity for many years.

The revelation that Grant was Mark’s biological father only emerged in 2016. This bombshell episode also marked the moment Grant himself discovered the truth he’d been denied for so long.
